✦ Synopsis

Qystals of

NiL(NCS)2 (L = 2,3:11,12-dibenzo-1,13dioxa-5,9diaza-2,11-cyclopentadecadiene), obtained by adding the ligand in buthanol to a methanolic solution of KSCN and Ni(ClO.&.HzO, are triclinic (PI), with cell dimensions: a = 9.836(2), b = 18.825(7), c = 8.003(4) A, (Y = 81.57(5), fl = 64.99(3), y = .55.89(l)", Z = 2. The structure has been determined from diffractometer data by Patterson and Fourier methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares to an R value of 3.78%. The complex has distorted octahedral coordination with the thiocyanate groups in the apical positions and the equatorial plane occupied by the nitrogen and oxygen atoms of the macrocycle.
