Arsabenzene-4-carbaldehyde ( 4 ) can be obtained pure as a pale yellow oil by bulb tube vacuum distillation (10-' torr). Surprisingly, the product, which is stable under nitrogen, smells strongly and unmistakably of benzaldehyde, thus providing further justification for the trivial name "arsabenzaldehyde" [
