✦ Synopsis
Single crystals of benzyl3,4-anhydro-2-O-mesyl-6-O-trityl-a-~-altropyranoside (1) were tetragonal, space group P4,, with cell dimensions a = l&393(3), b = 16.393(2), c = 11.952(2) A, Z = 4. The 3,4_anhydropyranose ring adopts a half-chair ('Ho) conformation. The conformations of 3,4-anhydro-a-Dhexopyranosides with the allo, attro. galacto, and taio configurations are discussed.
