The temperature dependence of the humidity-sensitive spacing, d , related to the lateral packing of collagen molecules was measured for fully hydrated collagen. In the vicinity of O"C, a sudden change in d was observed, which was reversible with temperature. In the diffraction profile, below O"C, a

Abstract
The Xβray diffraction of water was measured at 0Β°, 25Β° and 45Β°. An improved method has been used for the calculation of the distribution functions from the experimental data. This method was checked on the data for vitreous SiO~2~
The interpretation of the distribution curves for water leads to a model for the βstructureβ of water in which the average configuration around the molecules is described in terms of a shortβrange octahedral arrangement.
