✦ Synopsis

We describe an X-linked recessive malformation of the hands in 5 men from the same family. The malformation consisted of fusion of metacarpals IV and V, with hypoplasia of metacarpal V, but normal feet and no other malformations. The malformation was surgically corrected in all 5 men. The female gene carriers have normal hands.
