โฆ Synopsis
Wuthering Heights is the latest classic novel to be subjected to the Milligan treatment in an outrageous spoof that unashamedly lays bare the book's absurder aspects.
Here are Emily Bronte's famous characters as you have never seen them before: Edgar Linton, 'a well-meaning nerd'; Hareton Earnshaw, a life member of Alcoholics Anonymous by the age of five;
Mr Lockwood, 'a crashing bore'; and the decrepit servant Joseph, who speaks his mind, and often speaks his leg. Hindley is here, newly incarnated as Gladys (and deeply attached to a sailor) while Heathcliff's longing for Cathy is surpassed only by his passion for a good vindaloo.
Spike Milligan has had a field day up on the wild moors, bringing his inimitable humour to bear upon the unfathomable habits of a bunch of nutters intent on driving themselves even further round the twist.
