## Abstract The simplest examples of gauged supergravities are __N__ = 1 or __N__ = 2 theories with Fayet‐Iliopoulos (FI) terms. FI terms in supergravity imply that the R‐symmetry is gauged. Also the U(1) or SU(2) local symmetries of Kähler and quaternionic‐Kähler manifolds contribute to R‐symmetry
