✦ Synopsis

The workshops were initiated by active researchers in this ®eld who volunteered and continue to volunteer their help with workshop organization. This workshop was planned to be held in Japan for the ®rst time on the occasion that the Japanese national project ``Fundamental technologies for superconducting AC power equipment'' started as a part of activities of phase II Super GM project.

As in previous workshops, the workshop covered theoretical and experimental researches on AC losses in high-temperature and low-temperature superconductors including researches from standpoints of superconductor materials and in¯uence of such losses on designs of superconductor devices and electric power applications.
