โœฆ Synopsis

A majority of today's organization improvement efforts are not producing the desired results. The author believes the problem to be one of perspective. We have lost sight of the real purpose of "work."The author traces the historical evolution of the concept of work. He shows how work's original purpose was to enhance individual and societal development. He shows how this purpose was gradually perverted as we have focused increasingly on generating only one key input to development: wealth. Finally, the author shows how the quality improvement movement could be the vehicle necessary to get back on the development track.
