✦ Synopsis

In February 2006, Ametek formed the new Materials Analysis Division that brings together the afore-acquired Spectro Analytical Instruments Division and Edax, formerly a business unit of Ametek's Process & Analytical Instruments Division. Ametek named Alan Devenish, formerly the Business Unit Manager of Edax, as Vice President and General Manager of the Materials Analysis Division. Both Spectro, based in Germany, and Edax, based in the United States, have strong organizations. Ametek announced plans to leverage the manufacturing operations, technological capabilities and distribution competencies of these two businesses and to invest in new product development in the field of analytical instrumentation to satisfy the materials analysis needs of its customers.
