The Y-organs of the xanthid crab Menippe mercenaria secrete the ecdysteroids, 3dehydroecdysone (3DE) and lesser amounts of 3-dehydro (or 2-dehydro)-25-deoxyecdysone (3D25dE) in vitro. These ecdysteroids were identified by elution-time comparisons with authentic standards, mass spectrography, and, fo
