Three paper awards are given each year for the best papers published in that year's volume of the Journal of Operations Management. Five papers are chosen by the Editor-in-Chief and submitted to four judges to be evaluated on the criteria of importance to practice and research, empirical orientation, methodology, theorybuilding, literature review, and writing style and clarity. The winners for 2000, Volume 18, are:
