โฆ Synopsis
Dynamic instability of a moving plate subjected to parametric in-plane forces is analyzed. The extended Galerkin method is used to discretize the differential equation of motion, and the harmonic balance method is employed for investigating the instability regions of the moving plate. Two cases of parametric excitation are considered: fluctuating tension, and fluctuating tangential cutting force. Only simple parametric resonances are possible in the case of fluctuating tension, while interesting combination resonances are excited by the fluctuating tangential cutting force.
