Abstract
Where can an organization go to find highly qualified leaders? Is there a source of world‐class, trained leaders with experience in rapidly changing situations, teamwork, and problem solving? A recent insightful article in Fortune (O'Keefe, 2010) provides the answer: the U.S. military. Companies such as Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, State Farm, AT&T, Bank of America, Merck, GE, Northrop Grumman, PepsiCo, and others are hiring what the Fortune article calls the “elite” from the military ranks.
