The book is a compilation of Max Planck's essays. Apart from this explanation in the Introduction, neither the Introduction nor the copyright page contain any additional indication as to the sources. The bibliographic research indicates that the book may be based on an older (1922) collection of essays, published in German as 'Physikalische Rundblicke. Gesammelte Reden und AufsΓ€tze.'
The first edition of the English version was originally published in 1932. This is also the edition on which the source scan is based.
The book is part of a 5 volumes [UL] 'series' of Max Planck's essays on the philosophy of physics available in English on P2P venues. In approximate chronological order, the 'series' comprises of:
