โœฆ Synopsis

Although the primary literature in developmental biology seems to be growing at an exponential rate, and the secondary literature (general texts plus inonographb) is only lagging slightly behind, books that attempt or present evaluations of general ideas in development are still something of a rarity. In the past year, three books of n ~t e ( ' $ ~, ~) in this general category have been published. Differing markedly in organization, vantage point and style, they illustrate the diversity of perspectives that can be brought to ideas in development in the early 1990s. Collectively, they provide a view of contemporary issues in developmental biology and act as a signpost to the future evolution of this field. 1 0 Cousn, J.P. (lYY2). Revirw of Modelv 7Y5.
