โฆ Synopsis
It was adopted by various committees of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and by the former American Joint Committee (AJC) for Cancer Staging and End-Results Reporting. For a number of years, the UICC and the AJC, now the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC), worked separately, despite their similar objectives. Since 1987, there has been a single TNM classification agreed upon by all national TNM committees including the AJCC. At present, the second revision of the fourth edition of the UICC TNM classification,' and the fourth edition of the AJCC Manual for Staging of Cancer' share identical classifications and are thus, both valid. They are supplemented by the second revision of the third edition of the TNM Atlas,3 and the TNM Supplement 1993,4 which gives a commentary on uniform use of TNM.
