✦ Synopsis

This article offers an approach to identifying speci®c units and bidders in the California ISO's public bid data. The decoded data provide a detailed picture of the bidding and physical behavior of California generators during the summer of 2000. The fact that it is possible to decode the public bid data raises policy questions about whether and how market data should be protected in the future. Matthew A. Barmack Matthew A.
