✦ Synopsis

Karl, ein pensionierter Lehrer, macht sich eines Tages auf, herauszufinden, was das Glück sei. Einen nur leicht veränderten Fragebogen im Gepäck, mithilfe dessen seit 1979 das ›Bruttonationalglück‹ in Bhutan ermittelt wird, lässt sich der Glücksforscher in einem schneelosen Skiort nieder, dessen Bewohner er nun in unbekanntem Auftrag nach ihrer Lebenszufriedenheit befragen will. Das Hotel Post, in dem Karl als einziger Gast unterkommt, wird bewirtschaftet von einer namenlosen Frau und ihrer Hündin Annemarie. Von hier aus beginnt er seine Forschungen, unterbrochen von konfliktgeladenen Telefongesprächen mit seiner Frau Margit. Bald erhält seine Reise Züge einer Flucht, und der Fragende wird unmerklich zum Objekt der Befragung anderer.
