✦ Synopsis

Meteorological observations were made on a lowland farm between 1976 and 1979 with a view to studying the influence of weather on lamb mortality (Purvis et al., 1979). The studies indicate that the incidence of field deaths of young lambs tends to be related to the weather "stress" experienced over the previous twenty-four hours and show some interesting features of the "exposure" of the pastures. Trial lamb "wind-chill" forecasts are reported.
