✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel method for multiplexing intensity‐type fiber‐optic sensors using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and spatial division multiplexing (SDM) is proposed and demonstrated. A variation of Β±0.2 dB at a loss of βˆ’10.95 dB is obtained, which is comparable with that obtained by the traditional method. The experimental results show that the sensor at the up‐leading fiber has no influence on the sensor at the down‐leading fiber. Β© 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A simple intensity modulation based displacement sensor using fiber optic coupler probe is proposed and demonstrated for sensing the concentration of alcohol solution. The intensity of light reduces almost linearly with the displacement and the sensitivity of the curve is dependent on t
