✦ Synopsis

A design technique that will yield asymmetric shaped patterns from a continuous linear aperture distribution with controlled ripple and side-lobe levels has been described. This technique can be applied for both power and real field synthesis. We obtain a set of different continuous aperture Ž . distributions generally complex nonsymmetrical for the same Ž power pattern in the power synthesis and only one with a . symmetrical amplitude but antisymmetric phase in the real field synthesis.
