Electrically tunable band-pass frequency-selective surface (FSS) designs based on a single diode and a series diode-pair configuration are proposed. The diodes are biased with the aid of surface mount resistors. The tunability is demonstrated numerically and experimentally, in a waveguide setup, ove

β¦ Synopsis
A band-stop frequency-selective surface is presented that is able to adjust its properties to allow for drifts in the incident signal frequency. This form of smartness is achieved through the novel control of varactor diodes, achieved by using a personal computer (PC). The smart FSS performance is experimentally demonstrated in a waveguide setup.
