-stream filtration has been recognised by the US Department of Energy, Federal Energy Management Program, as the best means for increasing the energy efficiency of cooling tower systems, while reducing water costs, maintenance costs and downtime, a new report from Filter Sciences Inc suggests.
Listed among the Best Management Practices for Cooling Tower Systems, the report cites "side-stream filtration" as "particularly helpful if [a] system is subject to dusty atmospheric conditions. Side-stream filtration can turn a troublesome system into a more trouble-free system," it goes on to report.
According to Filter Sciences, "side-stream filters are not substitutes for chemical water treatment programmes, but are being recognised by every authoritative source in the industry and scientific community as one of the best complementary technologies for chemical water treatment.
