Abstract
Water vapour budget of the lower troposphere over the Arabian Sea is studied by computing fluxes across the boundary walls of a rectangular volume around the Arabian Sea during September 1963 and June until September 1964. The net flux divergence is used to estimate total precipitation within the volume after taking into account the total estimated evaporation from the surface of the Arabian Sea. Relative magnitudes of net crossβequatorial flux of water vapour into the volume and evaporation from the surface of the Arabian Sea appear to suggest that on an average the former may be about 30 per cent larger than the latter.
