โฆ Synopsis
Salt removal from water by means of ion-exchange hollow fibers was investigated under different conditions . The efficiency of desalination of tap water improves with increasing water velocity up to an optimal value in a concentration range of 0 .2-0.3 N of the regenerants . Further improvement was obtained with a mixed cation-and anionexchange hollow-fiber unit . A pilot plant which includes 25 m2 of ion-exchange hollow fibers was put in operation in combination with a conventional ion-exchange unit for salt removal from tap water. Regenerants rejected from the conventional ion-exchange unit are recycled for regeneration of the ion-exchange hollow fibers .
