Pumps supplied by UK-based CCD have b e e n installed on two submarines which are proving to be a big tourist attraction at holiday resorts in the Red Sea and the Canary Islands.
The submarines -designed to operate at depths of up to 100 m -are equipped with 3 ft diameter ports and TV monitors to provide alternative viewing angles.The e q u i p m e n t provided by CCD involved stainless steel borehole p u m p s used for cooling and also for transferring seawater in and out of ballast tanks which enable the submarines to dive and surface.
New p u m p s were installed in the Lanzarote submarinebased at Puerto Calero -as part of a major refit carried out in the UK at Gosport last year.The
