β¦ Synopsis
Two top scientists β quite unconnected with one another, but linked by insurance β donβt commit suicide without strong reason, especially if the suicide is really murder. And a business based in Sweden, and run by a man with several names whom nobody has succeeded in photographing, is not connected β however remotely β with a couple of deaths in the United States without good, illegal reason. So Intercontinental Insurance thought, and they had cause to know: they were in it for something like half a million dollars. So, as usual, it was a case of send for Milo March.
And Milo was to be on the side of the angels, in the shape of the counter-espionage boys: only the counter-espionage boys were not helping any. The help was all one-way; Milo could co-operate with them, that was fine, but when it came to getting co-operation in exchange he was strictly on a one-way ticket. That suited Milo fine, he really preferred operating on his own, especially when the expenses had no limit and all Europe lay before him for the chase.
There were little difficulties, of course: while he was chasing the villains, they were chasing him. All in all, it was a busy time for Milo, but he managed to pull Uncle Samβs chestnuts out of the fire, and then there was always Kerstin. Some female, Kerstin: and some male, Milo. So really the case had everything, thought Milo.
