โœฆ Synopsis

Among statisticians the name WALTER ULBICH BEHRENS is inseparately associated with the BEHRENS-FISHER problem. Virtually unknown seems to be BEH-RENS'G apparently considerable concern with nonparametric statistics. The author is aware of o d y one reference (to be mentioned later) to BEHRENS'6 interest in this field. The tenth anniversary of the untimely death of the distinguished collaborator of the Biometrische Zeitschrift offers a n opportunity to call attention to this aspect of his statistical activity.
