β¦ Synopsis
A fundamental study has been carried out of vortex shedding in rotated square tube arrays over a range of pitch ratios from 1.21 to 2.83 . The experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel with hot-wire measurements providing details for velocity distribution and flow periodicity. This work was supported by flow visualization. The results show that alternate vortex shedding occurs at distinct frequencies in the first and second tube rows for a given flow velocity. Strouhal curves are provided as a function of pitch ratio, and the data are compared with those from the literature.
