✦ Synopsis

The concentration, temperature and pressure dependence of the mean 57Fe center shift were measured for Y(FexAI1 ~)2. The contribution of the second-order Doppler shift was estimated so as to allow a determination of the volume dependence of the mean isomer shift. From the obtained AIS/AV values, a dominance of the volume contribution must be concluded. Charge transfers between Fe and AI are found to be of minor importance.
