✦ Synopsis
A statistical series-parallel model is presented to estimate the voltage versus current characteristics of high T c superconducting samples. It consists of 'excellent" and 'poor" superconducting sections with parallel paths of normal material connected together in series. Unconventional statistics taking into account lower and upper bound for the local critical current is used to analyse the experimentally observed characteristics. As a special case, the influence of the proximity effect on the magnetic field dependence of the thickness of the 'poor" sections is calculated. It is shown that the flux line pinning model better describes the current carrying mechanism in these superconductors than the weak-link network.
