The very pleasant ( ¯owery, hay-and tea-like, woody) smelling essential oil of the ¯owers of Aglaia odorata Lour. (Meliaceae) consists mainly of cadinane derivatives (ca. 48%, including 27% of d-cadinene, 24). A main constituent is muurola-4,10( 14)-dien-1b-ol (4%, 37), accompanied by the new epimer

✦ Synopsis
The essential oil of the ¯owers of Rosa brunonii (Rosaceae) was prepared by hydrodistillation and studied by capillary GC±FID and GC±MS; 35 constituents were identi®ed, accounting for 78.4% of the total oil. The essential oil consisted mainly of eugenol (30%), citronellol (2.65%), geraniol (10.5%) and terpinen-4-ol (13.7%) as the major compounds.

Sixteen compounds representing 93.4% of the oil were identi®ed of which geranial (39.0%), neral (29.4%) and myrcene (18.0%) were the major components. Small amounts of geraniol
Ninety constituents (98%) of the essential oil of the leaves and ¯owers of Achillea eriophora DC. (Compositae) were identi®ed. The main constituents are 1,8-cineole (34%) and the pinenes (13%). The oil contains only 7% of sesquiterpenes, mainly caryophyllene derivatives. Three new farnesol derivativ

The volatile constituents of Perovskia atriplicifolia Benth. (Lamiaceae), collected in Pakistan, have been characterized by means of GC, GC±MS and 13 C-NMR spectroscopy. Out of 19 compounds identi®ed in this oil, the monoterpenes, D 3 -carene (22.3%) and 1,8-cineole (27.5%) amounted to 50% of the to
