✦ Synopsis


The volatile constituents of the fruits of Astrocarium vulgare Mart. and Bactris gasipaes H.B.K. were analysed by capillary GC±MS. The volatile constituents of A. Vulgare were dominated by esters, of which the most abundant was ethyl hexanoate (47.5%). The major component of B. Gasipaes was limonene (52.9%).
