✦ Synopsis

The performance map has been demonstrated to provide a visual description of dynamical system performance over ranges of parameter value pairs. However, because the effects of only two parameters are visualized, the maps are limited to visualizations in two dimensions. This limits their effectiveness for tuning control systems. In this article, a discussion of the difficulties of three-dimensional performance map generation is provided. Examples are given to illustrate early attempts to generate such a construct and the difficulties encountered. Finally, a novel approach is presented, which will allow the visualization of three and more system parameters.
