The expressions of stress-strain field in a finite plate with crack-tips of different radii of curvature have been derived by the method of conformal mapping-weighted residues. The stress-strain field has been evaluated for the LYIZM piate of dimensions 300 mm x 150 mm x 2 mm under uniaxial tension.

A computer program for the visualization of dynamic fields of displacement, strain, stress, and moment in plate vibration was developed. The simulated fields are animated to enhance learning of vibrations by university undergraduates. The software could be used for effective computer-aided teaching in classroom or laboratory lessons. It is suitable for undergraduate and graduate courses in structural mechanics and computeraided engineering.
