✦ Synopsis
We report on continuous-wave violet-blue light generation by direct frequency doubling a laser diode in a ZnCd(SCN) 4 crystal. 10.3 mW second harmonic generation light at 404 nm is generated with a fundamental power of 1.46 W incident on 3-mm-long crystal. The d 14 , d 15 nonlinear optical coefficients of the crystal were also determined by the Maker fringes method at 1064 nm.
