โœฆ Synopsis


A 2000-character video terminal has been introduced by SE Computer Peripherals.

Known as the SE 2000, the terminal can display almost twice as much as SE's other terminal, but is smaller in overall size and costs less than 20 7o more.

The SE 2000 alpha-numeric terminal, which is priced at under ยฃ2300, has capacity for 25 lines of data, with 80 characters per line. It comprises a display unit incorporating a~cathode ray tube for displaying information and a free-standing keyboard having a conventional typewriter format with additional keys for data editing and transmission. Data is entered using the keyboard and is displayed off-line on the terminal's 370 mm screen for verifying or editing prior to on-line transmission to the computer. Information retrieved from the computer is also displayed on the screen and can be recorded permanently by a printer unit.

The new SE terminal is available with a full range of standard V24 interfaces. These provide software compatibility with main frame computers including IBM's 360 and 370 series, the ICL 1900 and System 4, Burroughs 3500 and 6700, Honeywell DDP 316, 416 and 516 and DEC's PDP8 and P D P l l computers. The SE 2000 terminal provides natural closed-curve characters generated from a Printicon Tube. Brightness of the display can be adjusted to suit ambient lighting conditions. It is equipped with a comprehensive set of editing and cursor movement controls which are operated both from the free-standing keyboard and the computer.
