✦ Synopsis

D ana Power Technologies Group has introduced a new gasket for use in light and commercial vehicles. The Victor Reinz Linear Stopper gasket is designed to create a highly uniform seal.

Developed for use in exhaust manifold and turbocharger cylinder-head gaskets, this new generation of sealing technology is available in both single-layer and multi-layer steel designs.

Possessing a high degree of stiffness and producing optimal distribution of sealing forces across gasket surfaces, it features a trapezoidal element that enables a highly uniform seal to be created.

The gasket has been developed to improve reliability and durability, and reduce oil consumption and bore distortion surrounding gasket bolt holes. In addition, its structure increases customer design flexibility within the gasket installation space.

Because of its air-gap insulating properties the Linear Stopper gasket -when compared with competitor technology -eliminates heat transfer of up to 100ºC between the engine block, seal and cylinder head. Associated with this substantial temperature difference are potential fuel savings, leading to reduced carbon emissions over the vehicle's lifecycle.

'A modern sealing solution, the Linear Stopper technology achieves much more than an exceptional seal,' commented David Nash, who is the chief engineer for sealing programmes at the Dana Power Technologies Group.

'It improves design flexibility, reduces heat transfer and contributes to potential fuel savings.
