✦ Synopsis
The Jahn-Teller effect in the pE" Rydberg series of NH, is investigated within a simple multichannelquantumdefect-type model. The parameters of the model are determined from recently observed infrared-optical double resonance spectra of the B 'E" (3p,,) band system. Jahn-Teller induced vibrational autoionization effects and pronounced perturbations of high Rydberg memhers are analyzed.
