β¦ Synopsis
The fluorescence spectrum of pyrnzine vapour and the Raman spectra of liquid pyrazine excited at various wavelengths were observed. The appearance of the ion_: progression of the hydrogen bending vibration y5 (b, $ in the fluorescence spectrum and a remarkable prcrcsonancc: effect of the Raman lint of the urne vibration confirm the thcoretical prediction given by Albrecht.

The intensity distribution in progressions of the big mode observed in phosphcrescence and phosphorescence-excitation spectra of p) mzine is interprered m terms of a model mvohin~ vrbronic couplin: in both singlet and triplet manifolds mediated by spin-orbit coupling. Pyrazine has been used repeated
Siie vibronic Ieve fb~orescence spectra of pyrazine4t~ and 44 are reported and the intensity distriiutions of tile Ione btg mode in these spectra are analyzed in terms of a vibronic coupling model.
The excitation wavelength dependences of theintensities of the Raman lines of pyrkne ha-de been measured The intensity enhancement of the non-totally symmetric Ramnn line nt 925 cm-' provided firm evidence of the dbronic coupling between the lowest lBju(n,sr\*) and second lowest 1B2u(fi,~\*) states.
