✦ Synopsis

A hysteretic model comprising a linear viscous part and a non-linear Davidenkov part is introduced in order to simulate rate-and amplitude-dependent internal losses during cyclic vibrations. The equivalent linearization technique is used to study the frequency response of a single-degree-of-freedom system. For an introduced model the problem of parameter identification is addressed. A vibrating cable is considered as an example for which theoretical frequency response curves and hysteretic loop shapes are compared with experimentally observed ones.
