✦ Synopsis

Abstract

IR and Raman spectra of (CH~3~NH~3~)~3~P~3~O~9~ were recorded and analysed. The vibrational bands due to P~3~O and (CH~3~NH~3~)^+^ groups are identified. From the spectral analysis, it is inferred that the P~3~O ion has a ring structure in the compound. Hydrogen bonds of moderate strength are observed between the external oxygen atoms of P~3~O and NH~3~^+^ groups.
