β¦ Synopsis
The far i.r. spectra of Cu(II), Cu(1) and Ni(I1) complexes with dithizone are presented. The assignment of the metal-ligand vibrations was carried out by 63Cu/6sCu and 58Ni/62Ni isotopic substitution. Resonance Raman spectra of Hg(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Cu(I1) and Cu(1) complexes were measured. Excitation profiles of the enhanced Raman modes of Hg(I1) dithizonate allowed us to identify vibrations associated with the chromophoric azo group. It is concluded that Pd(I1) dithizonate and Pt(II) dithizonate are N, S coordinated and form a trans square-planar structure, whereas in Cu(1) dithizonate the Cu(I) ion forms a strong bond with the sulfur atom and a weak secondary bond with the azo nitrogen as well as with sulfur atoms from the neighboring molecules conferring a tetrahedral configuration on the coordination sphere and polymeric structure of-the complex

The infrared-, Raman-and u.v./vis spectra as well as the thermal analysis of the Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes with oxamic hydrazide (H 2 NCOCONHNH2) are discussed. We assume 2/1 planar complexes and a coordination via the four amide nitrogen atoms as visualised in Fig. 1.
