✦ Synopsis

In this paper we study resonance Raman spectra of carotenoids in biological matrices of carrot and compare them with those of I~-carotene in acetonitrile solutions. The spectra of the C=C stretching mode (v0 and the C-C stretching mode (v3) have been measured. In order to compare the orientations of the molecules in their natural matrix with those in solution we measured the Raman spectra taken in different polarization.
