โฆ Synopsis
The role or the relaxation energy in the vibrational linewidth of F1, core-hole scales is investigared by ab inilio UHF calculalions on selecled dialomic systems. 1~ is shown that. whereas the relaxation contribution from the conlraclion 01 the local eleclron density plays only a minor role. Ihe additional conlriburion due LO charge redisnibulion in the molecule is of fundamenlal imporlance lo the vibnlional linewidth and may lead 10 repulsive ionized sml~.
