Spectroscopic investigations of \(\mathrm{CuCl}_{2}\) in its electronic ground state have been extended to transitions to the levels of the \(\left(02^{\prime} 0\right)\) vibronic multiplet. These transitions appear as weak \(P, R\) rotational lines in laser-induced fluorescence spectra recorded in

✦ Synopsis
Stimulated emission pumping has been employed to prepare specific Renner-Teller levels associated with the (0 1 2) vibrational manifold of the NCOð X X 2 PÞ molecule. Transfer out of these vibronic levels due to collisions with argon collision partner was monitored by laser fluorescence excitation. The total removal bimolecular rate constants were found to be large [ð2-5Þ Â 10 À10 cm 3 molecule À1 s À1 ]. In several cases, it was possible to observe collisional transfer between specified X Xð0 1 2Þ Renner-Teller levels. The collisional transfer of population between the Renner-Teller levels was found to be a small fraction of the total collisional loss but was comparable in magnitude to the total decay rates for the X Xð0 1 0Þ levels.
