✦ Synopsis

The linewidths as a function of the number of quanta of the totnlly sgmmctic prosession forming mode, 525 cm-l (509 -quinoxalined6) have been measured at high resolution in the x~por phase absorp:ion spectrum of quinosaline. The line broadening is artfioutcd to efficient intersystem crossing between the lowest ringlet (ns*) and triplet (:a+) states. me increased broadening observed with increased energy is consistent with theoretical predictions and with the general results of parallel lifetime studies of individual vibronic levels.

In diamagnetic solutions, we determine the frequency shift and the inhomogeneous broadening of high-resolution NMR lines of nuclei I due to the dipolar interactions with the molecular electromc magnetic moments induced by the external magnetic field. This effect, which depends on the shape of the li
