Transient vibration of an orthotropic rectangular plate subjected to a rapid temperature change is considered. The governing differential equation in the affine space is used because of its simple fashion. The thermally induced vibrations of a simply supported orthotropic rectangular plate are studied. The generalized bending rigidity D* for an orthotropic plate is shown to have a significant effect on the vibrational behavior.
