โฆ Synopsis
From 1973 to 1974 in Germany a cable-stayed highway bridge across the River Rhine near Speyer was under construction. During this stage the pylon and the projecting part of the bridge were endangered by wind-induced oscillations.
For the pylon without cables, wind tunnel tests were carried out in order to ascertain the critical wind speeds. During the erection stage, full-scale measurements were made to obtain the dynamic characterist;c~ of the pylon and the projecting parts of the bridge. During the construction period no critical wind speeds occurred.
